Meet Toronto Naturopath Dr. Kristen Ma, ND
Dr. Kristen Ma, ND is a board-certified Naturopathic Doctor with over 15 years of experience treating skin and dermatological conditions. She is the author of the award-winning book “Beauty, Pure and Simple”, an Ayurvedic guide to holistic skincare, which combines her knowledge as a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner with her in-practice experience.
Her journey with holistic skincare began as a Certified Esthetician. She was named “Best Facialist in Toronto” by Toronto Life Magazine, highlighting her technical expertise. She created the Holistic Vanity skincare line – a product collection aimed at treating specific skin disorders. These formulations were based on her clinical observations and uncompromising standards of natural ingredients. Collections target rosacea, acne and skin environmental damage.
As Co-founder of Pure + Simple skincare and spas, Dr. Ma ND has spent over a decade developing facial treatments and formulating organic skincare products. Today, the company has seven spa locations and distributes its line to retailers all over the country.
Believing in going to the source, Dr. Ma ND honed her acupuncture skills in China, working at the Guangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and completing her Ayurvedic education in Bengaluru, India in 2006. She combines her knowledge of Eastern Medicine with a biomedical approach and is familiar with clinical institutional settings, having worked at Brampton Civic Hospital in Canada’s only Naturopathic Hospital partnership.
Dr Ma ND is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and Alive Magazine in addition to writing her own column in Tonic Magazine. She has been featured in numerous press including The National Post, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, The Yoga Journal, Flare Magazine, Fashion Magazine and MSN Health + Wellness News.
